Busy but fun week: We have been very heads down coordinating the capital and infrastructure required to stable, long duration vacuum exposure to NASA. We’ve done quite a bit of planning around the vacuum chambers that we will need to prove different things, and how to work around the lead times for each, and how to interface each one with the skin-chamber-vacuum gasket. Indigo just finished NASA-SP-287 “What made Apollo a Success”, and I’m about halfway through. I feel like George M. Low’s insight into how to pace the buildup of mission capability was very interesting, and has given us a lot to think about as we develop the techniques to have skin exposed to deep vacuum for prolonged periods: taking steps that are large enough to get us to where we need to be, but not so large that we aren’t able to keep up with the growing technical and bioastro requirements for safety. I also fixed my camera, so we should be able get more good film photos of this development stage.
